Introduction

The popular Allison O-Scope modules have found their way into many fields of electronic testing. One of those is automotive. In response to requests from automotive customers, ATC has developed the O-Scope II Automotive Start-Up Package.

Like other O-Scopes, the II works with both desktop and laptop computers via the printer port. It converts a PC into a digital storage oscilloscope capable of capturing, displaying and storing DC and AC input signals. It has a number of features which make it especially useful for automotive electronic troubleshooting.

  • FLEXIBLE Works with any AT-compatible PC: EGA, VGA
    or monochrome; CRT or LCD; large or small; your choice of
    computer and display.
  • PORTABLE Powered by any 12 VDC source: ATC battery pack, AC
    adapter (included) or the vehicle battery.
  • DIGITAL and ANALOG Simultaneous display of sweep voltages
    (min max and RMS) and frequency as well as scope waveforms - - - all at the same time.
  • STORAGE Freezes a trace on the screen at the stroke of a key - - - for
    close inspection and/or printing.
  • DATA LOGGING Logging of data to hard disk permits later analysis
    and/or printing of long-term studies; time of day and date automatically included.
  • CURSORS Accurate measurement of voltages and voltage differences
    is simplified by the use of one or both cursors.
  • EXTERNAL TRIGGER Analysis of primary and secondary ignition
    patterns is facilitated by the external trigger and accessory probes for inductive pickup and secondary ignition pickup.
  • ROAD TESTS With a suitable laptop PC, the O-Scope provides live
    road test results as well as logging of data for later analysis; simply plug it into the cigarette lighter socket or use the optional battery pack.
  • FREQUENCY SPECTRUM Observe and record the frequency
    spectrum of a complex signal.
  • AUDIO ANALYSIS With our optional Sound Level Meter, observe
    and/or record the audible frequency spectrum. Analyze engine noise and vibration; balance car stereo systems, etc.
  • DUAL TRACE Permits observation of two different waveforms at the
    same time. Simultaneous dual-channel sampling allows an X-Y display.
  • CONFIGURATION O-Scope set-ups can be saved to disk and loaded
    from disk at any time.
